Frequently asked questions:
Is there a saving in postage cost if I buy more than one book:
This is a valid question with a slightly complex answer.
Because of the exorbitant prices charged by Australia Post we already
subsidize postage on most books (we decided that we will factor the cost
of eBay charges that we are saving by listing on our own site into
postal costs as we no longer have this expense).
It is therefore unlikely that there would be a saving in postage charges
to you if you buy two books.
However, if you buy three or more books there could be a nice
saving in your shipping cost. See below how to buy more and save.
Buy more and save on postage:
Books have to be bought in a very short time, as we post regularly
and once an item is mailed it can obviously not be used any more to
combine postage costs. If you are unable to do so please
contact us to delay delivery
of your purchases until you are ready.
Buy the books and pay for them as if you are buying them individually -
this means that you will need to pay the full postage charge at the
time.
Contact us to let us know
which books you have purchased so that we can combine the shipment and
calculate your refund. Although we try to keep track of multiple item
purchases some can slip through, particularly on heavy sales days.
As soon as we have received your email we will weigh the combined items
and issue a refund to your credit card or PayPal account immediately
(these transactions could take as long as a week to appear in credit
card records, PayPal is normally instantaneous).
Alternatively you could contact
us to get a quote for the combined postage before you buy, but while
we are to-ing and fro-ing by email someone else could buy one or more of
the books. The pay now and get a refund option is much safer but does
imply trust on your part which we have no intention of abusing.
How much will it be to ship this book internationally?
Australia (where we are based) has one of the most expensive postal
services in the world. Australian postage prices are based on actual
weight or cubed weight (the volume of the item is used) and the higher
of the two applies. In the case of books and other printed matter postal
charges are almost always based on weight.
It is difficult to estimate shipping cost on dimension of the book
alone because paper varies greatly in weight - for example the paper
used in most mass market paperbacks is very light compared to the glossy
pages of a cookbook or coffee table book that has high quality colour
plates. We recently had a large format bible that weighed close on 3kg,
which cost just under AU$60.00 (US$55.00) to ship to the US. The bible
was priced at just under AU$10.00!
The table below can only be used to form an idea of the potential
cost of shipping a book to you - because of the huge variance possible
in similar sized books we cannot be held to these costs. You need to get
a quote from us before you buy. The costs below are based on choosing
randomly five books in each category out of our inventory. In reality a
specific book could weigh more than twice that much or even half that
much.

Do you offer surface mail as a cheaper option?
No. Australia Post does not offer sea/surface delivery to Asia
Pacific or New Zealand and the few times we tried surface mail to the US
or Europe it took longer than three months. This caused our customers to
be very concerned (rightfully so) and bombard us with emails. It is just
not worth the hassle!
